The Affordable Care Act: A Positive Impact on Alternative Medicine

PBS News reviews the way alternative treatments could become more prevalent under Affordable Care Act.

Ankita Roa, PBS news writer, states that [through the Affordable Care Act] there is great potential for alternative medical treatments to become more accessible for patients across the nation. If implemented correctly through state legislature and insurance plans, Section 2706 of the Act will require insurance companies to reimburse for alternative treatments just as they currently do for conventional treatments. This measure will provide an opportunity for patients to choose from a wider array of treatments outside of mainstream Western medicine and not pay out-of-pocket for them.
