East meets West at UCLA through Urban Zen

January 23, 2013

UCLA Health System President and Chief Executive Officer David T. Feinberg, M.D., M.B.A., pushes for the blending of both Eastern and Western medicine by introducing a new initiative called the Urban Zen Integrative Program.

The February issue of Acupuncture Today ran a story about Urban Zen, a program that trains caregivers in yoga, mindfulness and other Eastern therapies that augment Western medical care. The article quoted Dr. David Feinberg, president of the UCLA Health System and CEO of the UCLA Hospital System; Dr. Ka-Kit Hui, Wallis Annenberg Professor in Integrative East-West Medicine and founder and director of the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine; Anne Coscarelli, director of the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Medicine; Lynn Sullivan-Gross, UCLA Health Center communication health manager, and Ellen Wilson, director of therapy services.
