On November 21-22, 2013, the Confucius Institute of Rutgers University will be hosting the International Conference on "Traditional Chinese Medicine and Contemporary Society: Theory and Practice in the Global Age."

Introduction:

The conference, organized by the Confucius Institute of Rutgers University (CIRU), the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and the Rutgers East Asian Library, is part of the Biennial Theme (2013-2014) on Global Health sponsored by the Rutgers Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs (GAIA).

 

Topics discussed include:

  • Basic Concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Reconsidered
  • TCM and Its Modern Transformation
  • Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine
  • Empirical Studies on TCM
  • TCM Education in the West: Toward Integrative Medicine
  • The Future of TCM in the Era of Data

 

In addition to the conference panels, there will also be display caseson the history and modern development of TCM in China and the West as well as demonstrations of TCM practicesby a number of local New Jersey exhibitors.
